ANCHORAGE - Western New Mexico outside hitter Angelina Pulu had another big match Friday night, tallying 16 kills and 19 digs to lead her team to a 25-18, 25-22, 25-17 sweep of Dixie State in the SpringHill Suites Invitational volleyball tournament.

The Mustangs (3-5) also got 28 assists and 16 digs from setter Alyssa Meihack, who helped her team to its second victory of the day in round-robin play at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex.

The Red Storm (0-2) were led by nine kills from Mercedes O'Neal as they dropped back-to-back matches to begin the tournament. The St. George, Utah, squad lost to host Alaska Anchorage, 3-1, in its opener earlier Friday.

Ziona Verhulsdonk added 12 kills and Seluia Falealili had 11 kills and three block assists for WNMU.

Both teams continue round-robin play on Saturday, with the consolation and championship matches set for 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. ADT, respectively.
