A former Division I player, Ridge comes to UAA after serving as the top assistant at Oglethorpe University in Atlanta in 2011-12, where she was responsible for recruiting, player development and all other facets of the game.
"RyAnne is a very good addition to the women's basketball program," said Altenhofen, who was named head coach on May 22. "I wanted someone with huge potential as a recruiter and she definitely has it. Her basketball IQ will fit nicely with our up-tempo system, and I'm excited to get on the court and work with her."
As a freshman at the University of Tulsa, she was an honor roll student on a squad that advanced to the Women's National Invitation Tournament. She repeated her academic success as a sophomore on a Tulsa team that won the Conference USA Championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament. During her senior year at Colorado, the Buffaloes qualified for the WNIT and advanced all the way to the semifinals.
Ridge hails from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where she was a two-time adidas All-American (2002-03) and an honorable mention All-American by Street & Smith, playing for Xavier High School. She averaged 8.5 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game as a junior, helping Xavier to the 2003 Iowa state championship.
Ridge graduated from the University of Colorado with a B.S. in psychology in May 2009.
