MONMOUTH, ORE. – Alaska Anchorage won three individual titles on day one of the GNAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships Friday.

Wesley Kirui got the Seawolves off to a great start after winning the first event of the day the steeplechase in 9:03.95.

The Seawolves would close the day by winning by 10,000 titles.

Caroline Kurgat repeated as the conference champion in 38:03.64, and Edwin Kangogo, who won the 10,000 conference title in 2017, ran 31:56.62 for the win.

Nickson Koech earned All-GNAC honors with a third place finish in the 10,000 (32:21.60), and Kim Coscia was eighth in the women's (40:42.46).

Chrisalyn Johnson was runner-up in the women's long jump (18-9.75), and David Sramek was sixth in the men's long jump (21-11.75).

Chris Brake tied his personal-best with a jump of 6-8.75 in the high jump to finish third.

Grace Gannon placed eighth in the women's steeplechase in 11:27.08.

The Seawolves have the top-three seeds for the final of the women's 400 led by Vanessa Aniteye (55.25), followed by Tylantiss Atlas (56.67) and Marie Ries (56.25).

The women's 800 will also feature three Seawolves with defending champion Dani McCormick the top-seed with a time of 2:09.09. Ruth Cvancara is seeded third (2:13.14), and Nancy Jeptoo eighth (2:12.60).

Drew Johnson (1:53.37) and Felix Kemboi (1:53.92) will be the top-two seeds in the men's 800.

In addition to the 400, Vanessa Aniteye will also compete in the 200 as the fourth seed (24.84).

Yvonne Jeschke is the third-seed in the 400 hurdles (1:03.50), and Elena Cano is the seventh-seed in the 100 hurdles (14.88).

Enrique Campbell is seeded fifth in both the 100 (10.93) and the 200 (22.09).

The UAA men are currently third and the women are sixth in the team standings with seven events scored.

The GNAC Championships conclude Saturday.
