NEW ORLEANS – Senior Caroline Kurgat of Alaska Anchorage was named the female High Point Athlete of the Meet from the 2019 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Tuesday.
Kurgat, a native of Eldoret, Kenya, scored 22 points, the most of any male or female student-athlete, at the NCAA Div. II Indoor Track and Field Championships last week in Pittsburg, Kansas.
Kurgat won both the 3,000 and the 5,000 to go along with running the anchor leg of the distance medley relay. It was the fourth and fifth national championships won so far during her career and both of her marks in the two events rank as one of the all-conditions bests run at the DII level.
Kurgat helped the Seawolves to a fourth-place finish, the program’s best ever finish at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
