The Alaska Anchorage ski team will race for the final time at the NCAA Skiing National Championships in Stowe, Vermont March 6-9. This will be the Seawolves second appearance in the Green Mountain State this season after the competed in the US National Championships in Craftsbury Jan. 3-8.
UAA at NCAA Championships
Alaska Anchorage will be making its 37th straight appearance at the NCAA Skiing Championships. The Seawolves have finished in the top-10 32 times with its highest finish of fourth coming in 2009. A complete list of NCAA finishes located on page four.
National Champions
Alaska Anchorage has had nine national champions in skiing (six Nordic, three alpine). A complete list of UAA national champions is located on page two.
Fresh Blood
All-RMISA
Freshman Sigurd Roenning Roenning earned All-RMISA honors after posting five podium finishes and placing in the top-10 in seven of 10 races. He wasted no time making a name for himself by winning the classic race at Colorado, the first race of the season. He followed up with a runner-up finish the following day in the freestyle. He won the classic sprints in front of the home crowd at the UAA Invite, finished second in the classic race at New Mexico and placed third in the freestyle race at the NCAA West Regional.
RMISA/NCAA West Region Championships
Alaska Anchorage finished fourth at the RMISA/NCAA West Regional Championships held in Anchorage. UAA used the home course advantage to tally a season-high 511 points. The fourth place finish was the highest for the Seawolves since they placed second in 2010.
