RED RIVER, N.M. – The Alaska Anchorage ski team finished sixth at the New Mexico Invite Saturday.

Anna Darnell led the Seawolves with a seventh place finish (17:45) in the women's five-kilometer freestyle.

Jenna DiFolco was 14^th (18:11), and Michaela Keller-Miller was 19^th (18:29).

Sigurd Roenning led the UAA men with an 11^th place finish (15:09).

Austin Huneck was 25^th (15:34), JC Schoonmaker was 26^th (15:54) and Toomas Kollo was 29^th (16:10).

“The team start format had each team going out separately one minute apart,” said head Nordic coach Andrew Kastning. “All the Seawolves started together at the four minute mark, so there was some tactics to be had in helping pull teammates along (which we didn't do all that well at). The women's team fought hard through the thin air and skied as well as they could have I believe. Anna has established herself as a regular in the top ten for skate races and came ready to go hard from the start. High altitude racing can be good because you push yourself past limits you thought were there, and that could play well for us heading into the final races of the regular season on our home trails.”

Li Djurestaal finished 14^th (1:36.70) to lead the Seawolves in the women's slalom.

Kristina Natalenko placed 21^st (1:39.92).

On the men's side, Didrik Nilsen was 21^st (1:33.25) and Dominic Unterberger was 22^nd (1:33.32).

Tony Naciuk was 27^th (1:34.53), Martins Onskulis was 32^nd (1:36.20), Sky Kelsey 34^th (1:37.09) and Michael Soetaert was 35^th (1:37.19).

UAA will host the UAA Invite and NCAA Regional Feb. 17-24.
