ANCHORAGE, ALASKA – Jeremiah Luedtke scored his team-leading fifth goal of the season for Alaska Anchorage in a 5-1 loss to Northern Michigan Friday.

“The result probably doesn’t do justice to how we played the majority of the night,” said head coach Matt Curley. “I thought we had some nice stretches of solid play, performing the way we want to perform. Unfortunately we got ourselves into trouble with penalties in the third and ended up costing us a chance to get back into it."

The Wildcats scored a pair of goals late in the first period to take a 2-0 lead into the first intermission.

Jonah Renouf sent a pass to Luedtke in the slot who lit the lamp at 13:45 of the second period. Nils Rygaard tallied his third assist of the season on the goal.

Garrett Klee pushed the Wildcat lead to 3-1 with a goal with one minute remaining in the second.

NMU scored two more goals, including one on the powerplay, midway through the third period.

The Wildcats led 29-21 in shots. NMU went 1-for-3 on the powerplay, and UAA was 0-for-3.

The Seawolves finished with a 35-26 lead in faceoffs.

Kristian Stead finished with 24 saves for UAA.

Alaska Anchorage and Northern Michigan will battle again Saturday.
