Hockey closes 2018 in Northern Minnesota
Alaska Anchorage will wrap-up its 12-day road trip with a two game series at Bemidji State Dec. 14-15.
Bemidji State leads the all-time series with Alaska Anchorage 14-2-4 and 7-1-2 in Bemidji. The Beavers have won the last five games in the series including a sweep of the series (2-0, 3-1) earlier this season at Sullivan Arena. The Seawolves lone road win in the series was the first meeting between the two schools (5-4) on Nov. 12, 2010.
Senior Nils Rygaard scored his third goal of the season last weekend at Mankato to move into second place on the team. The native of Norrkoping, Sweden, ranks tied for second on the team in points with five.
Junior Tomi Hiekkavirta tallied his team-leading fourth assist of the season at Mankato last weekend. The Helsinki, Finland, native ranks tied for second on the team with five points.
Sophomore Drake Glover notched his second career assist on Nils Rygaard’s goal at Minnesota State last weekend.
All three UAA goalies saw time in net in last weekend’s series at Minnesota State. Brody Claeys made 26 saves in Friday’s 4-1 loss. Kristian Stead started Saturday’s 6-0 loss and made 25 saves, with Kris Carlson making 27 saves in the final 34 minutes of play.
The senior class has scored 10 of the team’s 16 goals this season, including seven of the last eight.

Alaska Anchorage will return from the holiday break with a two-game series at non-conference foe Nebraska Omaha Dec. 29 and 31.
