The University of Alaska Anchorage will host the University of Alaska Fairbanks for games three and four of the Alaska Airlines Governor’s Cup. UAF currently leads the six-game series 2-0.
UAA leads the all-time series with UAF, 90-66-12, and holds a 50-26-7 edge in Anchorage.
Alaska Anchorage’s three-game streak of recording two WCHA points came to an end with last week’s loss at Ferris State. The 2-0 shutout was the first shutout the Seawolves have experienced since Feb. 18, 2017 when the Bulldogs shutout them out 3-0.
Freshmen Corey Renwick and Zac Masson each tallied the first points of their careers last week at Ferris State. Corey Renwick scored his first career goal at 12:05 of the second period thanks to an assist from Zac Masson.
Senior Olivier Mantha made a season-high 46 at Ferris State Friday. His previous high was 42 against North Dakota on Oct. 7th.
UAA tied its season low for penalties with four at Ferris State Friday.
Senior Austin Azurdia is leading the team in goals (seven) and points (12) this season. The Wenatchee, Wash., native had his team-high five-game point streak end Friday at Ferris State. He tallied five goals and one assist over the streak. Azurdia started a new streak Saturday scoring at 11:33 of the second period.
Last Time Out
Ferris State swept both games against Alaska Anchorage in Big Rapids, Mich. last weekend. The Bulldogs won 2-0 on Friday and 5-2 on Saturday.
Alaska Anchorage will play its final series of the 2017 calendar year at Bemidji State Dec. 15-16.
