ANCHORAGE (Nov. 12) – Forward Autummn Williams scored 17 points and point guard Kiki Robertson spearheaded a dominant second half for the 10th-ranked Alaska Anchorage women’s basketball team Saturday in an 86-49 victory over Academy of Art at the Alaska Airlines Center.

The Seawolves (2-0) got at least three points from all 11 players, while Robertson finished with seven points, eight assists and six steals, helping the hosts to a 45-14 scoring advantage in the second half.

The Urban Knights (0-2), coming off an NCAA Tournament appearance last spring, were led by 15 points and four steals from guard Rodericka Ware, but the visitors from San Francisco were forced into 32 turnovers and shot 4-of-29 (.138) after halftime.

UAA – the two-time defending Great Northwest Athletic Conference champion and last year’s NCAA national runner-up – started with a 20-4 run to start the game. Ware got her touch going from long range, however, and the Pacific West Conference club outscored UAA 22-19 in the second quarter to make it 41-35 at the half.

The Seawolves never let the visitors have a chance after the break, outscoring them 24-4 in the third quarter. Art U was held to 0-of-15 shooting and committed six turnovers in the period, while UAA drained 4 of 8 three-pointers. After a first half in which she managed just one assist and four turnovers, Robertson recovered for seven assists, no turnovers and four steals in the final 20 minutes.

Senior forward Alysha Devine had 11 points and five rebounds, junior forward Shelby Cloninger came off the bench for 10 points, and freshman guard Kimijah King had nine points on 4-of-5 shooting and a pair of steals for the hosts.

Art U’s 14 points in the second half tied for the third-fewest allowed by a Seawolf team against a fellow NCAA Div. II opponent, while the four points in the third quarter equaled the best defensive effort against a D-II foe since women’s college basketball went to a four-quarter format last season.

The Seawolves stay home next week to face Post (Conn.) University for a pair of non-conference games at the Alaska Airlines Center. Tip of is set for 7 p.m. on Thur., Nov. 17, and 8 p.m. on Fri., Nov. 18. Call 907-786-1562 or visit for ticket information.
