THIS WEEK: The Alaska Anchorage Seawolves continue non-conference play when they head to Fairbanks for the annual Brice Alaska Goal Rush, Oct. 14-15 at the Carlson Center. The Seawolves will play Omaha on Friday and Canisius on Saturday. Puck drop is 4:07 p.m. ADT both days.
BRICE ALASKA GOAL RUSH NOTES: The Seawolves are 10-5-1 all-time at the Brice Alaska Goal Rush, which started in 2008-09 … the Seawolves won the BAGR twice – in 2008 for the inaugural event and again in 2011 … UAF won the other six tournaments, preventing Lower 48 teams from ever capturing the crown … last season, UAA defeated RPI (4-3) and American International (6-2) … UAA's Blake Tatchell and Wyatt Ege were named to the All-Tournament Team … sophomore F Jeremiah Leudtke holds the tournament record for single-game assists with four, while him and Tatchell are tied for tournament lead with four points in a single game … UAA is 4-1-1 since head coach Matt Thomas took over in 2013.

SCOUTING MAVERICKS: Omaha plays its first NCAA games of the season this weekend ... the Mavericks are coming off a season in which they went 18-17-1 and finished in sixth place in the NCHA with a record of 8-15-1-0/0 ... UNO posted its best first-half record in school history and went 10-0-0 in non-conference play, its first perfect non-conference record ... the Mavericks dropped a 3-2 decision in an exhibition game with Alberta at home ... UNO is coached by Bean Blais (129-116-25, 8th year at UNO) ... the Mavericks have one Anchorage local on the team - Kris Oldham ... UNO received 57 votes in the USCHO.com Division I Men's Poll.

SCOUTING GOLDEN GRIFFINS: Canisius starts the season 0-2 following a sweep at North Dakota (6-0, 4-1) Oct. 7-8 ... scoring the lone goal for the Golden Griffins was freshman F Nick Hutchison ... time in the goal was split between sophomore G Simon Hofley (.829sv%, 6.00gaa, 0-1-0) and senior G Charles Williams (.911sv%, 4.00gaa, 0-1-0) .. SEAWOLF BITES: UAA travels north following its opening weekend against #13 Minnesota and Alaska Fairbanks in Anchorage ... UAA is off to its worst start since 2000-01, going 0-2 in the opening weekend ... UAA fell to the Golden Gophers, 6-0, and to UAF, 4-1 ... the loss to Minnesota broke a 15-year unbeaten streak for the Seawolves in openers - UAA is now 12-1-3 in the last 16 openers ... UAA was never shutout in a season-opener prior to Friday ... scoring UAA's line goal on the weekend was junior D Jarrett Brown on Saturday ... assisting on the play was senior F Connor Wright and freshman D Nolan Nicholas.
