NEW ORLEANS – The Alaska Anchorage women's and men's cross country and track & field teams combined for a program-record third- and fourth-place finish in the Division II Programs of the Year Awards named by the U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association.

Combined, the Seawolves are the second-best running programs in Div. II this season. Adams State took first on the men's and second on the women's to lead the division. UAA topped Western State, who finished third in the rankings on the men's side and fifth on the women's side.

The UAA women's teams combined for 24 points behind winner Grand Valley State (8.5) and Adams State (14), while outdistancing University of Mary (34) and Western State (39). The men's programs posted 33 points with Adams State leading with seven.

The women's cross country took sixth in the fall, before finishing 11th in their  indoor championships debut and a program-best seventh at this past weekend's outdoor championships. The men's team finished cross country with a program-best third-place showing, 14th at indoors and 16th at outdoors.

The USTFCCCA Program of the Year Award is awarded annually to the most outstanding cross country/track & field programs in each of the NCAA's three divisions and for each gender.  The award honors the institution that has achieved the most success in each academic year — spanning the cross country, indoor track & field and outdoor track & field seasons — based on the institution's finish at the NCAA Championships.
