Skiers 6th at RMISA Championships

BOZEMAN, Mont. – After the completion of all eight events, the Alaska Anchorage Seawolves finished sixth at the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association/NCAA West Regional Championships on Saturday.

The Seawolves used a combined 620 points for sixth among the league field after registering 143 points in the men's and women's slalom. Winning the championships with a commanding lead was Colorado with 905.5 points, while Denver moved into second at 859 and Utah took third at 805. New Mexico finished fourth with 755 points and Montana State was fifth at 738.5.

Leading the Seawolf field was Anna Berecz in the women's slalom with a 16th-place showing. Berecz completed the two-run event in a time of one minute, 41.91 seconds. Also scoring for UAA were Ida Bjerka (1:42.35) and Kayla Hoog-Fry (1:42.67) in 19th and 20th, respectively.

In the men's slaom, freshman Cedrick Gagnon led UAA for the second straight day, taking 18th place with a time of 1:52.01. James Schindler (1:55.27) finished 25th while Andreas Adde (2:00.84) was 26th.

At the end of the three days, the Seawolves received eight top-15 showings with the highest placing going to Marine Dusser (4th) in the women's 5K classical.


Qualified Seawolves will head to the NCAA Skiing Championships, March 6-9 in Middlebury, VT.
