SCOUTING THE EAGLES: Eastern Michigan, which competes in the Mid-American Conference, is averaging 193.800 through four meets, currently ranking 36th in the nation … the Eagles, have a season-high of 195.875 (Feb. 2) and are coming off a 194.075 performance in Saturday's home loss to Ball State … the Ypsilanti, Mich., squad does not feature any all-arounders, although Khadijah Hudson comes in with plus-9.8 averages on vault and floor.

'WOLVES GO 2-1 IN LOUISIANA: The Seawolves came away with a winning road trip as they scored 190.025 and 191.950 in a pair of meets at Centenary in Shreveport, La., last week … on Feb. 8, UAA lost to the hosts but beat Winona State in a tri-meet, getting a winning 38.425 all-around from freshman M'rcy Matsunami … junior Emily Petersen and Matsunami scored 9.75 to tie for the win on bars as UAA took the top four spots (Sariaye Jensen  9.7, Marie-Sophie Boggasch 9.675) and equaled the 3rd-best total in program history at 48.500 … the Seawolves were strong on vault as well, with Boggasch earning her first career victory with a 9.575 … freshman Kayli Davies and Jensen tied for 3rd at 9.525 as UAA took five of the top six slots on vault … on Sunday, Matsunami won the all-around (38.725) and vault (9.75) to lead UAA to its second win in 12 all-time meetings vs. Centenary … Matsunami earned her fourth straight all-around title, while also winning on vault with a 9.75 … her 9.725 on floor exercise was a UAA season-high and good for runner-up honors … the Seawolves led narrowly throughout the meet and clinched the victory on the final rotation, scoring 48.225 points on balance beam, anchored by Petersen's 9.75 … Davies was second on vault with a 9.625, while Petersen and Boggasch tied for 3rd at 9.575 … the Seawolves' 191.950 overall score and 48.175 on uneven bars both ranked No. 11 on the program's all-time lists, while the 48.225 on balance beam tied for 7th. On floor exercise, the Seawolves posted a season-best 47.475.

TEAM NOTES: With a 190.638 average through six meets, the Seawolves are on pace to break the program record of 189.963 from 2004 … the same holds true for their pace on vault (48.238; current record 48.046, 2009), bars (47.758; 47.694, 2008) and beam (47.863; 47.563, 2004) … UAA has posted three of the top 18 team scores in program history so far, with the 191.950 at Centenary ranking 11th … the  191.675 against Seattle Pacific on Jan. 25 set a program record for the month of January and is now tied for No. 14 in UAA annals …  UAA already has three of the program's top five bars scores and two of the top four beam totals to its credit … the Seawolves have also earned four of the best 13 vault scores in program history, twice equaling the No. 5 mark at 48.500 … UAA's four dual victories are the program's most since 2009, while the Seawolves' 17 individual event victories has already easily surpassed their total of 11 from last season.

IT'S PRONOUNCED 'MARCY': Freshman M'rcy Matsunami has made an impressive collegiate debut, earning 10 individual wins through six meets, including a current string of four straight all-around titles … the Omaha, Neb., native was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Gymnast of the Week honors for her Jan. 25-26 performances against SPU, with her 38.750 on Saturday matching the 11th-best score in program history … with vaults of 9.85 and 9.825 vs SPU, she became just the third Seawolf to post at least four career vaults of 9.8 or better, joining Dominique Ingram ('04-05) and Lauren Agostino ('05-06, 07-09) … among other all-time Seawolf top scores, her 9.85 vaults are tied for 7th and her 9.8 bars routine Jan. 26 is tied for 8th … Matsunami's 9.725 floor exercise at Centenary on Sunday was a UAA season-best, while her 38.725 all-around tied the No. 16 score in program history.

MORE GYMNAST NOTES: Junior Emily Petersen now has six career scores of 9.8 or better, doing it four times on beam and twice on bars … the team captain's 9.825 bars routine Jan. 25 vs SPU tied for the 5th-best mark in program history, while her 9.8 the next night tied for 8th … on beam, her 9.825 on Jan. 26 tied her career-high and the No. 4 mark at UAA … Petersen already has five individual event victories this season after posting none in her first two campaigns … sophomore Sariaye Jensen bounced back from a tough first week by posting back-to-back career-highs on vault against Seattle Pacific, scoring a 9.675 on Jan. 25 and a 9.7 on Jan. 26 … with her 38.450 score at Rutgers, Simone Penker became the first Seawolf freshman since 2007 (Courtney Williams) to win an individual all-around competition … with a 9.6 and a 9.7 at Centenary, the Austrian has now scored 9.6-plus on four of her last five beam routines … sophomore Morgan Cook owns five straight scores of 9.6-plus on balance beam, hitting 9.7 on three occasions this year … Cook has been UAA's top floor exercise worker as well, averaging 9.475 … including Matsunami, five Seawolf freshman set career-highs at Centenary last week as Kayli Davies scored 9.625 on vault and 9.35 on floor, Stefany Bryan had a 9.625 on bars, Nicole Wetzel scored 9.575 on beam and 9.4 on floor, and Marie-Sophie Boggasch tallied a 9.725 on bars … Boggasch, from Germany, has scored no lower than 9.575 on vault and has five straight scores of 9.525-plus on bars in her rookie campaign.

INJURY REPORT: Redshirt freshman Chelsey Baker returned to the lineup on balance beam at Centenary, having missed the SPU meets with a minor injury … the Floridian posted a 9.625 on beam in just her second career competition, Jan. 12 at Rutgers.
