ANCHORAGE -
Alaska Anchorage head coach Sparky Anderson
announced Thursday the addition of three Nordic skiers to the 2013 roster. Joining
the Seawolves are Marine Dusser, John Glen and Patricia Sprecher.
"With
three graduating senior girls this year, I knew the gaps to fill would be
large," said head Nordic coach Andrew Kastning, "But I'm confident that Marine
and Patricia can do just that. I'm also excited to have a native skier in John to
help strengthen our men's team and I look forward to seeing what he can do as a
Seawolf."
Suiting up
for the Green & Gold next season will be Dusser, a native of Villard de
Lans, France. A member of the French National Biathlon team, Dusser qualified
for the Junior Olympic Games, winning medals as an individual and in relays. A
recipient of an associate degree in business from the University of Savoie,
Dusser registered more than 30 podium results in biathlon races.
A local of
Anchorage (Service HS), Glen helped the Cougars win the state title during his
senior season, while finishing second individually in the classic and third in
the freestyle. A the 2012 Cook Inlet Conference Ski Championships, Glen, a
co-captain for Service, won the 10K freestyle race and anchored the winning
4x4-relay race. Overall, Glen finished second in the Skimeister standings - a
list that combines results from both disciplines to formulate an inclusive
ranking in the State of Alaska.
From
Vaettis, Switzerland, Sprecher amassed 12 medals throughout her career at the
Swiss Junior Championships. She also posted three victories at the Junior Swiss
Cup and twice participated at the Junior World Championships. In 2009, Sprecher
finished eighth at the European Youth Olympic Games.
The
Seawolves are coming off of a successful season in 2012 after qualifying a full
12-member team to the NCAAs, before registering six All-American honors and
finishing fifth overall.
