Wilt, Parker collect GNAC weekly honors

SPOKANE, Wash. –Alaska Anchorage swept the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Track & Field Athlete of the Week honors as senior Hallidie Wilt and rookie Cody Parker picked up the first Seawolf accolade of the young season Monday.

Wilt, from Unalaska, started off her last season with a career-best time of 10 minutes, 42.9 seconds in the women's steeplechase, breaking her own UAA record of 10:48.90 set on April 15, 2010. The time, which qualifies her provisionally for the NCAAs, also ranks third on the all-time GNAC top-10 chart

A native of Comox, B.C., Parker commenced his collegiate career by breaking the Seawolf record in the men's javelin with a NCAA provisional qualifying toss of 211 feet, one inch. Expected to be a national contender, Parker easily broke the previous record of 175-7, set by Casey Robinson on April 2, 2010.

Currently, both Wilt and Parker lead the country in their respective events. Wilt leads Chico State's Amy Schnittger (10:50.87), while Parker tops UC San Diego's Nick Howe (201-8).

The Seawolves return to action this weekend with the Northridge Spring Break Multi (March 15-16), Occidental Distance Carnival (March 16) and the Northridge Invite (March 17).
