UAA places 13 on all-region team

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Thirteen Alaska Anchorage Seawolves were among a total 1,250 athletes that were named Tuesday to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) inaugural outdoor track & field Div. II All-Region Team.

Leading the UAA men's squad, which was ranked No. 16 in the latest USTFCCCA national poll, was senior David Registe with four honors. Claiming two awards were juniors Alfred Kangogo and Shaun Ward and sophomores Micah Chelimo and Ethan Hewitt. Senior Levi Sutton and freshman Gabe Holland earned one accolade.

On the women's side, junior Miriam Kipng'eno, sophomore Ruth Keino and freshman Ivy O'Guinn each picked up two honors, while seniors Emma Bohman and Ardrienna Everett and freshman Haleigh Lloyd chipped in with one honor apiece.

The top five from each region in individual events and each member of a relay ranked in the region's top three have earned the All-Region distinction for the 2011 outdoor season.

Qualified Seawolves will head to Turlock, Calif., on May 26-28 for the 2011 NCAA Div. II Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
