DAVIS, Calif. – Kaelei Spoor earned top honors on balance beam and the Alaska Anchorage gymnastics team improved nearly three points over its opening-night score with a 188.675 total in a tri-meet Sunday at The Pavilion.

Host UC Davis won the meet with 191.300 points, followed by San Jose State with 190.600 and UAA.

Spoor, a junior from Rome, N.Y., scored a 9.775 on beam to edge UC Davis' Erika Van Dyke (9.725). Fellow junior Kelsey Fullerton was fifth on floor exercise with a UAA season-high score of 9.8.

Freshman Melissa Doucette showed major improvement from Friday's season-opener at Sacramento State, in which the Seawolves totaled 185.725. Doucette scored a 9.625 on floor and a 9.4 on vault to produce a team-best 37.625 all-around score.

Juniors Kathleen Mantell (36.550) and Shakea Sanders (36.450) also competed all-around for the Seawolves, who scored better on bars, beam and floor than they did at Sacramento State.

For Spoor, who also scored a 9.675 on floor and a 9.35 on vault, her beam score was the third-best of her career and matched the 17th-best mark in program history.

UC Davis' Marcy Miller won the all-around with a 38.775.

The Seawolves now get the next two weekends off before returning to the Golden State on Jan. 30 to take on Pacific-10 Conference member California in Berkeley.
