SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS: Western New Mexico snapped a 4-game losing streak last week with a pair of Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference home wins over Colorado Mines (91-7) and Colorado Christian (92-84, ot) ... the Mustangs have one common opponent with UAA, having lost 97-77 at Hawaii Pacific on Nov. 29 ... WNMU features four double-digit scorers, including Stefan Mirabel (20.0 ppg, 3.8 rpg, .458 FG, 389 3FG, .763 FT) and Justin Williams (13.5 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 6.0 apg, .474 3FG) ... like UAA, Chaminade has suffered all of its losses to Division I teams (Maryland, Vanderbilt, Colorado and Hawaii) ... the Silverswords are coming off a 87-81 upset of Pacific West Conference rival and preseason No. 1-ranked BYU-Hawaii at home in Honolulu on Saturday ... 5-6 Jr. PG Steven Bennett leads CU with 14.3 ppg (.393 3FG) and 6.4 apg, while 6-6 Jr. F Shane Hanson is averaging 13.4 ppg (.377 3FG) and 5.0 rpg ... JAMBOREE NOTES: This will be the 17th edition of the AT&T Alascom Jamboree ... last year's event was canceled due to an opponent's weather-related travel issues on the East Coast, although UAA wound up playing a single game against Rockhurst (Mo.), winning 63-52 ... UAA is 29-7 all-time in the Jamboree, including four straight victories ... there will be a 5-player All-Jamboree Team, plus a Most Outstanding Player award given after Sunday's final game.

MORE GLACIER GLORY: The Seawolves improved to 15-1 all time in the Glacier Classic (annually hosted by UAA or UAF), taking the unofficial title of the four-team event with wins over Grace Bible (81-69) and Grand Canyon (67-38), Dec. 11 & 12 in Fairbanks ... in the first game, So. C Malcolm Campbell notched UAA's first double-double of the year and Jr. F Casey Robinson scored 15 points as UAA fended off an upset bid by the defending NCCAA national champions from Grand Rapids, Mich. ... the Seawolves got 20 points (9-16 FG) and 10 rebounds from Campbell as they erased an early 30-17 deficit ... facing their biggest hole late in the first half, Jr. G Drew Robinson sparked the Seawolves with eight points in a 10-0 run that lasted just 80 seconds ... Jr. G Brandon Walker had 10 points and 8 rebounds, Jr. G Kevin White finished with 13 points (3-5 3FG) and a game-high 6 assists, while Drew Robinson had 10 points, six rebounds and five assists ... in the second game, UAA Casey Robinson scored all 15 of his points (6-8 FG, 3-4 3FG) in the first half as UAA used one of the best defensive efforts in school history to earn a comfortable victory over West Region foe Grand Canyon ... the Seawolves also got 13 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists from junior Walker as they held the Antelopes scoreless for the game's first 9 minutes and took a dominating 33-10 lead at halftime ... the 10 points allowed was the second-fewest in a half in school history, trailing only the seven points allowed in this year's opener against American Sports University ... the previous record for points allowed against a fellow Division II team was 13 against Sacramento State on Dec. 18, 1984 ... UAA forced the Antelopes into 32.6 percent shooting and forced 18 turnovers as the 38 points tied for the 4th-fewest ever allowed by a Seawolf team ... Campbell scored all 12 of his points in the second half and Drew Robinson had another solid night with 7 points, 7 assists and no turnovers.

GNAC HONORS ROBINSON:  Jr. F Casey Robinson was named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference's men's basketball Player of the Week on Monday after propelling the Seawolves to a pair of victories at the Glacier Classic ... at the offensive end, the 6-6 forward from Manila, Utah (Eastern Wyoming College) scored 30 points (10-20 FGs, 6-12 3FGs) and grabbed 4 rebounds in the two games, while on the defensive end he had 5 rebounds and 6 steals, and helped hold the two opposing starting power forwards to a combined 6 points on 2-of-8 shooting ... on Friday, his 5 steals were a UAA season-high while on Saturday he scored all 15 of his points in the first half as UAA jumped to a 33-10 lead ... it is the first career award for Robinson and the second for the Seawolves this year; Jr. G Brandon Walker was likewise honored after his performance in the Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout two weeks ago.

TEAM NOTES: With two more wins, 6th-year coach Rusty Osborne will become the fourth Seawolf mentor to achieve 100 career victories ... Osborne needs 11 more wins to catch Ron Abegglen (109, 1986-91) for No. 3 on the UAA coaching victories list ... the Seawolves lead the GNAC in four categories - 3FG% (.419), 3FGs made per game (8.1), rebound margin (+10.7) and rebound defense (27.0) ... in the initial NCAA Div. II national rankings, UAA is 16th in rebound margin, 21st in 3FG%, and 27th in scoring defense (61.4 ppg) ... with seven points allowed in the first half against American Sports (Nov. 11) and 10 against Grand Canyon (Dec. 12), the Seawolves have now twice eclipsed the previous school record for fewest points allowed in a half (11 vs Lancaster Bible, Nov. 2006) ... the Seawolves also set new marks vs. Div. I opponents with 19 rebounds allowed and .750 3FG shooting against Nicholls State in the Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout.

'WOLF BITES: Jr. G Brandon Walker ran his double-digit scoring streak to five games with 10- and 13-point showings last week ... since shooting 1-of-7 in the season opener, Walker has connected at a .614 clip from the floor, including .556 from 3FG range ... Walker's 21 points against Houston marked his 5th career 20-point effort, including four in the Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout ... the Californian was the 2009 Shootout's 2nd-leading scorer, tallying 69 points in three games ... in the GNAC stats, Walker ranks 11th in scoring (14.7 ppg), 2nd in 3FG% (.516) and 11th in FG% (.563, 88th nationally) ... Jr. G Kevin White has earned starting assignments in 34 of the last 35 games ... currently in 15th place on UAA's career 3FGs list, White needs just three more to pass Ron Fischer for 13th ... the Aussie ranks 10th in career 3FG% at .427 ... White currently holds GNAC ranks of 9th in assists (3.4), 2nd in assists/turnover ratio (2.0) and 11th in 3FG% (.385) ... Jr. G Drew Robinson paces the Seawolves and ranks 7th in the GNAC with 4.1 assists per game, boosted by his team-season-best 7 dishes vs. Grand Canyon ... So. C Malcolm Campbell rates 7th in the GNAC in scoring (15.6 ppg) and FG% (.600, 54th nationally), plus 11th in rebounding ... with 48 points, the Div. I transfer (Hartford) was the 7th-leading scorer in the Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout, including a game-high 26 in the loss to Houston ... Campbell has scored double digits and shot over 50 percent in all but one game (WSU) this season ... Jr. F Casey Robinson is UAA's 3rd-leading scorer (9.4 ppg) and is tied with Walker for 5th in the GNAC with 2.3 3FGs made per game ... Robinson also ranks 8th in 3FG% ... Jr. G Donnie Lao currently sports the only perfect FT% among GNAC players, making his first 16 charities as a Seawolf.

INJURY REPORT: Jr G Donnie Lao missed the Glacier Classic after being diagnosed with pneumonia; his return for the Jamboree is questionable.

SHOOTOUT RECAP: The Seawolves posted a 1-2 record in the Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout for the second straight year, losing to Washington State and Houston, and beating Nicholls State at the Sullivan Arena, Nov. 25-28 ... in the first game,  Jr. G Brandon Walker scored a game-high 27 points, but the size and athleticism of WSU was too much for the host Seawolves as they lost 87-68 ... UAA was powered by 8-of-13 shooting (5-8 3FG) from Walker, while fellow Jr. G Drew Robinson scored 14 points (4-8 FG, 5-6 FT) and dished 4 assists ... the Seawolves battled through foul trouble all night, beginning when Jr. C Malcolm Campbell (7 pts, 5 rebounds) picked up his second foul just two minutes into the game ... in the second game, Walker tallied game-highs of 21 points and 6 rebounds as the Seawolves recorded their 50th all-time win over a Division I opponent, taking a 72-58 decision against Nicholls ... UAA took control from the start, jumping to a 14-4 lead in the first 6 minutes. Jr. F Casey Robinson scored all 8 of his points on perfect shooting (3-3 FG, 2-2 3FG) in the opening 20 minutes as the Seawolves built a 37-30 halftime edge ... the Seawolves shot a season-best 58.5 percent (24-41) from the field, while holding the Colonels to 43.6 percent (24-55) ... Jr. G Kevin White guarded NSU counterpart and fellow Australian Anatoly Bose closely throughout, holding the Colonels' leading scorer to 6 points - 13 under his average coming in ... on the final day, UAA was led by a season-high 26 points from Campbell, plus 21 from Walker, but the lightning-quick Houston backcourt was too much to overcome in a 73-57 loss ... Campbell and Walker both shot 8-of-13 from the field, while the rest of the Seawolves combined to make just 4 of 26 shots. Campbell sank 10 of 13 free throws, and Walker went 3-for-4 ... Drew Robinson led UAA with season-bests of 6 assists and 6 rebounds ... after six career Shootout games, Walker now stands 11th on the tournament's all-time scoring list with 114 points.

SEAWOLVES IN THE SHOOTOUT: The Seawolves, the only Division II team and the only school to appear in every Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout, now sport a 30-66 (.313) all-time mark in the tournament, including 8-16 since 2002 ... the Seawolves have now won at least one game in 26 of the 32 Shootouts, including a string of 13 straight from 1985-97 ... UAA's best finish has been 4th place, accomplished five times (1986, 1987, 1991, 2003, 2009), although this season's finish came vs. a smaller field ...
