ELLENSBURG, Wash. – Senior Autummn Williams scored 31 points and junior forward Shelby Cloninger had seven points and a career-high 11 rebounds Saturday to help 2nd-ranked Alaska Anchorage to a 69-48 women’s basketball victory over Central Washington at Nicholson Pavilion.

The Seawolves (23-1, 16-0 GNAC) also got five rebounds, five assists and a pair of steals from Williams as they remained unbeaten against NCAA Div. II competition and recorded at least a 19-game winning streak for the second year in a row.

The Wildcats (10-14, 5-11) were led by nine points from point guard Jasmin Edwards and a game-high 13 rebounds from center Taylor Baird, but the hosts were held to 28 percent shooting (17-60) and outrebounded 52-39.

Despite making just 9 of 36 shots in the first half, the Seawolves got four points from freshman Kimijah King during a brief 11-0 run that captured the lead midway through the second quarter. Cloninger grabbed eight boards and Sierra Afoa had eight of her 10 rebounds before the break as UAA forged a 30-21 lead.

The Wildcats stayed within striking distance for most of the third quarter, but Williams coasted in for a layup with four seconds left, pushing the lead to double digits at 48-37. Williams added seven more points in the first 2:18 of the fourth quarter, and the transfer from Div. I Little Rock would finish with her second 30-plus effort in a row, shooting 11 of 19 from the floor and 7 of 9 at the free throw line.

Senior point guard Kiki Robertson added nine points, five rebounds and three steals, while sophomore Hannah Wandersee had eight points, three rebounds and a career-high three blocks.

The 19 straight victories ties last year’s club for the second-longest streak in program history, while UAA extended record streaks of 19 straight road wins and 16 straight conference road wins.
