BILL MACKAY ATHLETE OF THE YEAR

The University of Alaska Anchorage Athlete of the Year Award was established in 1984  when Peter Hupperten of the Benton Bay Lions and then-athletic director Ron Petro teamed to start a new tradition

Beginning in 2011, the award was renamed the Bill MacKay Athlete of the Year Award in honor of William L. MacKay — a longtime supporter, corporate partner and advocate for Seawolf Athletics and the university as a whole.

The Bill MacKay Athlete of the Year is awarded to the premier student-athlete of each competitive season.
