SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – Alaska Anchorage outside hitter Jackie Matthisen was named Saturday night to the NCAA Div. II Volleyball West Regional All-Tournament Team after helping the Seawolves to a 1-1 record at the event this week.

One of 12 players named to the squad, the sophomore from Anchorage (East HS) totaled 31 kills on .192 hitting as UAA scored its first-ever NCAA Tournament victory and finished tied for the best record (23-8) in school history.

The first-team All-Great Northwest Athletic Conference selection tallied 19 kills, seven digs and three total blocks in UAA’s win over 14th-ranked Hawaii Hilo on Thursday, delivering a pair of blocks and a kill on the final three points to seal a 15-12, fifth-set win.

Matthisen also led the Seawolves with 12 kills in Friday’s 3-0, second-round loss to nationally 2nd-ranked Cal State-San Bernardino. The host Coyotes went on to win tonight’s title match, 3-0, over 19th-ranked Cal State-Los Angeles, advancing to the NCAA Elite Eight for the second straight year.
